Catherine Effect were a 90's alternative band that initially formed to enter the Rock Competition but ended up hanging around for around four years. Formed around Alex Fleming, vocals and Paul Woodwright on guitar the first line-up featured Nikki Batley on vocals, Dave Jack on bass and Mike Stockwell on keyboards and beats. Nikki was later replaced by Sarah Giles. They disbanded on the night of the year 2000 after the last "proper" gig at Square (before current owners took over), The Millenium Ball. |

The Cherry Pickers were a short lived band formed by Kerry and Robin Kohler after The Fascinators had split up. The Cherry Pickers were Robin Kohler on bass, Kerry Ayres on vocals with Jo Clack on guitar and Billy Dawkins on drums. They were short lived and only played a handful of gigs before going there separate ways. |

Early 80's band The Clinic were Mark Walsh on guitar, Joe Quill on drums, James Carolan on bass and Paul Carolan on guitar and vocals. They entered the 1983 Rock Contest but failed to reach the finals. Mark left to start Some Other Day and Joe went on to join The Tender Trap as their drummer. |

When Hedgehog changed their name to The Fascinators in the early 80's the line-up was Robin Kohler, bass, Steve Izzard, guitar, Martin Bailey, vocals, Stephen Banks, keyboards and Kevin Ball on drums. Matt Mckintyre replaced Kevin on drums and after that Mickey Howard replaced Steve Izzard on guitar and Kerry Ayres replaced Martin Bailey on vocals. It was this line-up that reached the 1981 Rock Contest Finals. |

The Gangsters were massive around the start of the punk movement and produced an album and a couple of singles. The Gangsters were Richard Holgarth on guitars and vocals, Alan Meadows on drums, Pete Capaldi on bass, and Bill Meadows on guitar and vocals. Terry Hardy (drums) replaced Alan and Martin Holden replaced Pete on bass by the time they came to record. Steve Horton (The Sods) played keys on their album. The final line-up replaced Alan on drums with Billy Sticks. |
